Using and Sharing My Comics

Fans ask me a lot of questions on how to use my cartoons legally. I hope this blog post will dispel some confusion. If you're still having doubts after reading, please email me at jetlaggedcomic@gmail.com

Jetlagged Comic cartoons and images by Kelly Kincaid are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported License with the following conditions:

You're free to share, copy and redistribute Jetlagged Comic cartoons and images (non-commercially) in any medium or format as long as you follow these licensing terms...

Attribution: You don't need my permission to post an unaltered cartoon or image as long as you give me credit where it is due. Please provide my name Kelly Kincaid and a link back to www.jetlaggedcomic.com. Sometimes people crop out the copyright information (which is a No-No and makes me want to punch a kitten). The attribution could look something like "Used with permission from Kelly Kincaid at www.jetlaggedcomic.com".

I'm OK with people reprinting and posting my comics occasionally on related blogs and websites once a month with clear attribution, but making them a regular part of your publication is a big No-No. Featuring my comics as part of your brand (even if it's non-profit) is another big No-No including creating user icons.

A lot of my cartoons are shared on social media. Thank you! Yes I want you to share and like and tell all your friends about Jetlagged Comic. Just make sure you are linking back to my social media pages or website and not altering the cartoon in any way that changes the text or images or hides my name and website.

Non-Commerical: You MAY NOT use my cartoons for commercial purposes without my consent. If you use my cartoons on an income producing/monetarily compensated blog or website, create merchandise and get ridiculously rich and famous from selling it (and even if you don't become rich and famous), we need to talk big time.

If you want to start a business relationship with me commercializing my cartoons and creating merchandise, license for use in your presentation, newsletter, newspaper, book, income producing website/blog etc., or if you want to SYNDICATE ME (I'm talking to you Andrews McMeel!) then send me an email at jetlaggedcomic@gmail.com.

Please do not steal my cartoons, crop my name and copyright and use it in your publication. Chances are I have an angel fan who will see it and then alert me of this blasphemy (it's happened). Then I will be forced to spend my morning writing you an angry email and demanding compensation. Let's avoid this all together and play nice!

NoDerivatives: If you transform or build upon my cartoons or images (change the language, caption, add more hair to Wanda, etc) you can use it for your own personal use, but you MAY NOT distribute it to your friends and family on social media, sell it, print it out and give it as a Christmas tie to your uncle Joe...you get the idea.

In closing, please know that creating Jetlagged Comic cartoons and sharing them FREE with you, my fans, is the highlight of my day! But remember that I am also running a business and it's a lot of work! I'm a one-woman show. Please share and enjoy respectfully.
